dieSchauspieler*innen are a collective of film perfomers in solidarity
Over the past few years, I’ve spent a lot of time engaging with our industry — including from within existing structures. I invested a great deal of energy because I genuinely wanted to help create change, and in the process I also experienced where structures reach their limits. That’s nothing unusual, but it’s something you have to acknowledge honestly.
At some point, it became clear to me: I still want to stay involved. But differently. In a way that truly feels right to me. What happened next wasn’t some grand plan or a decision against something. Quite the opposite. It was a very organic process. It simply happened.
“Durchs Reden kumman d’Leit zamm” — people come together through talking. And above all, through listening. Out of that, something began to grow. Huge thanks to @undr.wien for bringing us together for the first time. You notice pretty quickly when something feels genuine: when there’s a shared understanding, similar values, and a common desire not to change things alone, but together. And I also realize: for the first time, it truly feels like belonging. Solidarity not just as a word, but as something that is lived. And yes — I’m also a little proud of what is emerging right now.
With this new association, we want to create exactly that kind of space: independent, supportive, and open to everyone who sees themselves as actors within the Austrian film industry. It’s not about drawing boundaries, but about taking responsibility. For one another. And for the structures we work within. We want to share experiences, name the things that aren’t working — and actively work toward improving them. Legally, economically, and socially.
In the end, it’s about respect. And about understanding that real change can only happen together.
Because: better together 💜
